Role summary

Do you want to join a game changing, award-winning non profit in the fight to protect our planet? Are you looking for a chance to make a real difference? Planet Patrol is searching for a talented Content Manager to own all things content in our growing team. This is a full-time role based remotely (we are and have always been remote-first).

You’ll combine your expertise in copy and creative flair with your talent for content to deliver a bold, creative and powerful engagement strategy to both our growing audience base and potential new supporters. You’ll be able to ideate and produce engaging, on-brand content to sit across our channels and platforms and will understand the nuances of social media and importance of tone of voice.

You should be curious and renowned for pushing content boundaries. You’ll bring your experience of owning and delivering end-to-end creative content campaigns to Planet Patrol, and help us define ourselves in the environmental sector. Excellent copywriting is an essential skill for this role, as is attention to detail (show us you’re paying attention now and tell us your favourite environmental documentary in your cover letter).

You should have a portfolio that you’re proud of that demonstrates both creative thinking and the delivery of effective and innovative multi-channel content campaigns. You’ll have excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to project manage and deliver against deadlines.

As a small, fast paced team, culture is super important to us, so you will need to maintain close relationships with the team, and be an all-round team player who is committed to the cause.

What you'll do:

  • Own Planet Patrol’s content strategy, across email, social, web, app, video and everything in between
  • Ideate and deliver engaging content that will help bring wider marketing campaigns to life, from copy through to visuals
  • Generate ideas that redefine how we use copy to engage with our audience
  • Conduct brainstorming sessions with the internal team, maintaining strategic and creative thinking to develop innovative, topical and actionable content plans
  • Collaborate on the development and execution of campaigns, marketing plans, and business initiatives
  • A/B test, monitor and analyse the outcomes of content campaigns to deliver ongoing optimisation
  • Own our new tone of voice and act as brand guardian, helping Planet Patrol become a household name in environmental campaigning
  • Take initiative and not be afraid to roll up your sleeves and be part of a fast-paced, scaling accelerator
  • Conceptualise, create and deliver both planned and reactive social media content across all channels – including planning, shooting and editing iphone standard content
  • Reacting to topical, relevant and trending content across all social channels
  • Applying social-first thinking to creative work and in activations to support wider brand campaigns
  • Remaining proactive across all new emerging channels, tools and trends
  • Working with influencers and celebrities on social media and wider campaigns
  • Developing, executing and managing paid spend campaigns (with external agency support)
  • Copywriting for a variety of press releases, newsletters, website pages, social media captions, infographics, resources, scripts and guidelines
  • Creating engaging, informative and relevant blog content
  • Planning and designing monthly newsletters
  • Creating and distributing regular internal reports across our platforms
  • Reporting across all social and digital aspects of campaigns

On any day you could be working on a different project. You could be creating compelling copy for the Planet Patrol website, shooting a video of volunteers for a social media campaign, curating a push notification for litter picking, or reacting to a tik tok audio trend…. wherever there is content that needs to shine, you’ll roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.

Who you are:

  • You have previous experience of leading and delivering on content – particularly social – from content strategy and creation through to execution
  • You’re an experienced copywriter, with a track record in delivering copy across channels for campaigns, and a portfolio that speaks for itself
  • You’ll need to have a great work ethic and be a creative, expressive and supportive member of the Planet Patrol team
  • You’re naturally creative, and feel excited to act as a source of creative inspiration for the team
  • You have a knack for design and editing, and feel confident delivering creative visuals to enhance your campaigns
  • You are commercially focussed with an understanding of the role copy plays in achieving wider company goals
  • You’ll have an interest in the environment and be on the pulse with current issues

While this role does not have any direct reports, there will be room to step up as the marketing team grows.

What you'll get:

We’re an accelerator currently scaling up, so if you like a slow pace we’re not the company for you. However, if you do like a supportive team, a fun culture, and the feeling of creating incredible work – you’ll fit right in! Some of the perks you’ll get with us are:

  • 33 days of paid holiday including the usual UK public holidays
  • Largely remote working, with flexible hours. We will trust you to get the job done and don’t believe in outdated working conditions. However, due to the nature of the role we do require someone who is East Midlands based with easy access to Nottingham for ad-hoc and impromptu content creation
  • A work laptop and phone to get the job done
  • Quarterly gatherings with the team – we work hard but value the fun side of life too
  • Access to our career development scheme, where you’ll get £300 annually to put towards initiatives for your career (whether it’s training courses or tickets to conferences is totally up to you)
