We’re always on the look out for passionate, likeminded people who are happy to volunteer their time to support our work at Planet Patrol. Whether you’re a dab hand at graphic design, budding videographer, data analyst, copywriter or anything in between. Get in touch and let’s chat!
Since 2016 Planet Patrol, a global non-profit movement, has been redefining what can be achieved through collective action and citizen science, by placing power in the hands of the people to tackle environmental issues.
The Planet Patrol app has been used in 113 countries and its user base is growing rapidly. Housing the most comprehensive and robust people-powered database, over the last six years thousands of volunteers around the world have recorded more than 460,000 pieces of litter data in the app, which would otherwise have been impossible to capture at scale. Over 50,000 participants have taken part in our activity-based clean up events, removing litter pollution from nature that would otherwise remain unobserved and unaccounted for.
Planet Patrol is particularly focused on protecting the world’s waterways and this year launched its Water Quality Testing pilot, a programme to encourage the general public to monitor and measure the quality of their freshwater environments, which will roll out nationwide in 2023. Planet Patrol also conducted its first ever Autumn Water Watch, a bi-annual national observational survey also launched.
Planet Patrol’s campaigning work featuring everything from our annual Litter Reports, Big Bag Ban and Autumn Water Watch are led by female founder, Lizzie Carr MBE, and have taken centre stage in the media spotlight, helping Planet Patrol to build a loyal following from the public.
We’re a small, committed team that cares deeply about protecting our planet. This means we can – and do – react quickly to current environmental issues. If you thrive in a fast paced role, want a supportive team, fun culture and the feeling of creating impactful work with real meaning then you’ll fit right in!
We are looking for a dedicated and resourceful individual to hit the ground running, taking ownership in both managing and developing Planet Patrol’s programmes to grow our community, increase data gathering and extend our reach. Passionate about the environment and our waterways, you’ll have a vested interest and commitment in helping to drive lasting change to create a better future and planet for all.
